27,112. Thompson, W. Dec. 13. Doors, locking simultaneously.-A number of railway and like carriage doors are locked simultaneously by applying air pressure to a number of pistons and so shooting an equivalent number of bolts into sockets in the doors, the bolts being released by means of spiral springs when the air pressure is removed. In the apparatus shown, compressed air is admitted to the back of a piston e fitted with airtight washers, so that the bolt d is shot into its socket in the door. The return of the piston, upon release of the pressure, is effected by means of a spring j, which lies against the end f of the piston cylinder a. A flange k is fitted to limit the motion of the piston. Compressed air is admitted to the piston by means of a pipe i screwed in at h to the cylinder end g.
