Abstract
24,120. Bilgram, H. Nov. 8. Tapping.-In a machine for tapping nuts &c., the tap 9, the ends of which are squared, is rotated always in the same direction. The squared ends of the tap fit into sockets 10, 11 in shafts k, l driven by spur-wheels from the bevel-gear driven shaft f. Spring-connected levers r, t pivoted to the frame of the machine engage collars o, p on the shafts k, l, and, by means of slotted arms 3, 4 pivoted to a worm-wheel m driven from the shaft f, the sockets are alternately withdrawn from the tap, thus allowing the nuts 13, which are fed into a magazine 14 and prevented from turning by a guide 12, to be placed on and removed from the tap.
