The cable holder or lifter A, formed with a clutch part to engage a corresponding clutch part on the driving shaft M, is moved along the shaft B by means of screws J, which work in nuts seated in recesses in the ring G. The screws are supported in the frame F, and are geared by spurwheels K to a loose wheel L which serves as a hand-wheel. In a modification the screws are connected by worm gearing to a cross-spindle.
