Smoke and fumes, treating.-Gases or combustion products are moistened or washed in a waterspraying centrifugal fan, and are then conducted to a closed chamber, where dust or smoke is deposited along with moisture. In the form shown, a fan with a double inlet is provided with closelyarranged tapering blades L attached to each side of a boss X. Water supplied to plates R is equally distributed over the blades by providing dished rings D<1>, D<2>. Fans with a single inlet have three such rings, which have openings of decreasing diameter from the inlet.
