Making razors.-Razor blades are made in the same form as hollow-ground blades by passing a metal band f, Fig. 6, coiled on a holder g, through a stove i and a hardening-bath h, and then between guiding-rollers a. The cutter s then separates the band into blades of the requisite length, and one corner of each blade b is rounded off as shown in Fig. 2 by grinding. The blades are fixed in a longitudinal slot of a back or holder by clamping, soldering, or cementing. The back may be made of steel or vulcanized rubber, horn, and the like.
