22,948. Gregory, R. Oct. 25. Air, drawing-off, methods of.-An apparatus for inducing a draught for drawing-off foul air &c. from sewers, tunnels, mines, buildings, &c., and for supplying furnace blast comprises a number of corrugated tubes a, b, c, d, mounted co-axially, the end of one tube being supported in the end of the next, and the whole supported by a tube m as shown. A bell-mouthed tube f is fitted into the tube a and carries an internally-threaded ring h to which is screwed the injector i, connected by a pipe l to some source of compressed vapour as steam or air. The whole apparatus is mounted as shown in Fig. 3. When steam &c. is turned on, it escapes through an annular orifice k and induces a current of air &c. through the chambers g, j. This current of air passing through the series of tubes also induces a further current through the annular spaces b<1>, thus increasing the draught.
