Abstract

19,259. Ruppman, F. W. Sept. 6. Door holders.-The casing 12 of the door holder, Fig. 2, is fitted in a recess at the bottom of the door 10. The casing contains a reciprocating carrier 15 provided with a pivoted member 16, the teeth 17 of which engage with the rack teeth 14 at the back of the casing 12 by means of a spring 18. The lower end 23 of the carrier 15 terminates in a cylindrical socket 24, in which a holder 27 is arranged to work against the action of a spring 29, the reciprocating movement of the holder being limited by screws or lugs working in slots of the socket 24. The holder fits over a flange of a rubber or other disc 25, to which it is secured by a screw 28. The rubber disc 25 is cup-shaped, having an annular enlargement 26 strengthened by webs 26<1>, Fig. 4. To hold the door in any position, the corrugated top 32 of the socket 34 is pressed downwards until the disc 25 is forced into close contact with the floor, the inclination of the rack teeth 14,17 permitting this, but resisting upward movement. The holder is released by tipping up the weighted end 22 of the lever 21, pivotally supported by the carrier 15, the lug 20 of the lever 21 engaging with the lip 19 of the pivoted member 16 and disengaging it from the rack teeth 14. The spring 29 then forces the carrier 15 upwards, releasing the disc 25 from the floor. The weighted top piece 22 projects beyond a slotted face-plate 13. In a modification, the casing is secured to the door instead of being recessed in it.
