A letter-sheet a of any size, capable of being folded up, is provided with an extension b, b<1>, having wings c, so that, when folded up, the part b becomes the front of the envelope and the part b<1> the back. The back b<1> when fastened down by the gummed edge d secures also the wings c. A recess e extending beyond the gummed portion of the back b<1> enables the letter to be easily opened by the finger &c., or, instead of using this recess, the wings may be perforated along the lines f to facilitate opening.
