Locomotives.- Slipping of the driving - wheels on greasy rails is preveuted by directing a jet of steam or water from the boiler on to the rail and the approaching surface of the wheel tyre. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement of pipes a, b, cocks c, and nozzles d for delivering the jets. Fig. 2 shows the form of nozzle employed.
