Vices.-The movable jaw b of a vice is operated by a coarse-pitch screw c which is turned for fine adjustment by a worm-wheel operated by a worm o contained in the hollow fixed jaw a. For rough adjustment, the wheel is put out of gear with the worm by means of an eccentric-pin j engaging a flange n on the wheel, and the screw is turned direct by a handle fitting in the head q. The movable jaw may be pivoted to take taper work, and the front jaw may be made movable and the back one fixed if desired.
