Abstract

8161. Wansleben, A. April 9. Direct steam pressure apparatus.-The smooth and easy working of the steam valve of a pulsometer pump is secured by causing the valve to rotate continually upon its axis. Fig. 3 shows an end view, and Fig. 4 a side view of a cylindrical valve m having piston-shaped ends e, e', which are free to slide longitudinally and also to rotate within corresponding cylindrical bearing-surfaces in the valve-chest c. The ports g, h leading to the pulsometer chambers a, b are closed alternately by the flat surfaces e', e<4> formed at the ends of the valve, while steam passes from the supply pipe f through the holes e<5> in the ends of the valve into the pulsometer chambers. In order to cause the valve to rotate, the steam pipe f is arranged non-symmetrically, so that the steam impinges against the blades e<2> which connect the ends of the valve.
