Coupling, n o n - automatic.-An ordinary chain coupling h is coupled or uncoupled from either side of a wagon by means of a rope g and a lever a actuated by a rod c, which passes from side to side of the wagon and is provided with a handle at each end. The rope g passes over a pulley i, on the end of the lever a, and over a pulley j on the wagon ; it is then bifurcated, and the branches g<1>, g<2> are passed round pulleys k and carried to the sides of the wagon, or the rope g may be attached to a reel on the rod c so that it can be wound up by turning the rod c. The lever a is mounted in a plane inclined to the central vertical plane of the truck, and preferably slightly inclined towards the coupling.
