Abstract

6736. Soc. Anon. d'ElectricitÚ et d'Automobiles Mors. Dec. 12, A.D. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A D. 1901]. Gas or explosive-vapour engines.-To reduce the speed of the explosion engine of a motor road vehicle when thrown out of gear, a cord X, attached at one end to the normally-stationary lever F, and at the other to the arm E of the throttle or other valve situated at the outlet of the carburetter, passes over and receives motion from the pulley C, fixed to the arm B, of the clutching-pedal A. The full lines show the pedal in the clutching position, and the valve open. When the pedal is depressed for unclutching, as shown by the dotted lines, the speed is reduced by the closing of the spring-controlled inlet valve. The position of the valve may be adjusted independently of the pedal, by varying the position of the lever F, or by the cord H.
