Abstract

5611. Catlin, R. M. March 8. Rope clips.-In a belt conveyer in which the endless belt proper is carried by one or more endless cables, which are supported independently of the belt, the belt and cables are connected on the working run by clips secured to the belt, the clips being automatically disengaged before the end of the run. Each clip is formed with a jaw to engage the cable and a recess to engage the fixed rail by which it is guided on to or lifted off the cable. The clip may be in one piece or, as shown in Fig. 18, in two parts, one 47 secured to the belt and having pivoted to it the part 46 terminating in an outer jaw 50 somewhat longer than the inner jaw 51 formed on the part 47. By this construction, the jaws automatically grip the cable but are readily detached by the guide-rails 21.
