Abstract

28,399. Snyder, F. T. Dec. 24. Magnetic separators. - Ore falls through the mouth g of the hopper f on to the cylindrical iron armature c journalled into the frame at b, where the frame which is hollow or box-like and made in two parts a is bolted together. The armature surface is toothed or roughened,or,preferably, the armature is made of discs d with teeth e, which may have non-magnetic material between them, and are arranged in staggered rows, Fig. 3. The armature rotates between pole-pieces n, s, oppositely magnetized by coils m, m<1>. The first piece n has a flat face with a shield h above it, while the other s is curved. The ores &c. fall on one side or the other of the dividing-plate p which may turn on the tubular shaft t adjusted as shown. The separator may move along rails w on lugs l.
