Advertising; letters and numerals; signs.-Consists in an electrically-illuminated sign, composed of a number of separate panels, the metal faces of which carry lamps forming the outlines of the different letters, numerals, &c. The lamp-carrying panels B, Fig. 3, are formed with oblique or angular bands b<3> to strengthen them and cause the sign letters to stand out, while the screwed lamp sockets of insulating material are held in place by screwed rings or nuts c with rubber packing between it and the metal panel. The panels are screwed to the inturned flanges of a frame a, preferably formed of a single metal channel - bar bent to the shape of the sign desired, a rubber packing D causing the joint to be water-tight, while the separate panels either overlap, or else are separated by spacing-pieces B', Fig. 6, the overlapping causing a tight joint. Spacing-pieces are placed at each end of the sign, so as to form, with the bands k, Fig. 3, a continuous margin round it. The sign is supported by a hollow rod G passing through eyes f in suspending-rods F, and the lamp wires pass through insulated thimbles in the metal frame to the outer end of the rod, along inside the rod, and so to the source of power. A single-faced sign may be constructed in a similar manner.
