Abstract
22,065. Duerre, C. W. R. Oct. 13. Saddles.-In saddles for bicycles and other velocipedes in which a moulded piece of leather is secured at the front and back upon a metal frame, outward bulging of the flaps is prevented by tying the sides together or to the frame. The flaps may be connected by a helical spring d, screwed hooks c, and nipple nuts b fitted into sunken sockets a, so that, on tightening the nuts, the two sides of the saddle can be drawn together as desired. In lieu of using the hooks, the ends of the spring may be made screw-threaded and be directly inserted in the nuts. A rod may be used instead of the spring, or, as a further modification, the rod or spring may be dispensed with and the hooks hitched around the spring portion e of the frame, the hooks being provided, if desired, with a few helical convolutions. The Provisional Specification states that the sides may be knotted together by leather thongs or a buckle may be used.
