Abstract
20,196. Hughes, W. B. Sept. 19. Trivets.-Fig. 1 shows a side elevation of a combined toasting - appliance and trivet or plate supporter. The U-shaped plate a has its upper ends bent to form hooks b, which engage with the bars c of the firegrate, and carries a wire frame d, the parallel sides d<1> of which support a plate e. This plate is secured in position by blocks e<1> surrounding the arms d', and can be moved to and from the firegrate. A block e' on the underside of the plate is formed with a socket into which the lower end of a vertical rod g, carrying the appliances for holding the meat, bread, &c., fits. On removing the rod from its socket, the plate e serves as a trivet or support for a plate, dish, or the like.
