Bobbins, spools, and reels-A bobbin, spool, or reel, for use in spinning and like machines, is constructed with metal parts, stamped, spun, drawn, or otherwise shaped, and then assembled on a central tube a, which is finally flanged, crimped, or beaded at the ends to secure the parts. One end of the bobbin &c. is formed with a distance ring c enclosed between flanges on discs b, e, which are separated by a flanged tube d. A groove is made in the ring c to receive the brake cord. The disc b is dished at its central part and fits on the tube a, and the disc e is flanged at its central part to receive one end of the tube f, which extends to the other end of the bobbin and fits on a flange formed on a disc g. The disc g is flanged at its circumference to receive a curved plate i, the central part of which is separated from the disc g by a sleeve h. In one modification, the tube f is dispensed with, and the tube a made thicker so that it may be reduced at the ends to form shoulders, against which the discs e, g fit. In another modification, the ring c is dispensed with and the flanges of the discs b, e are curved and form a groove between them to receive the brake. cord, also the tube d is made conical.
