12,062. Parkman, J. May 27. Couplings, non-automatic.-Railway-wagon coup - lings are operated from either side of the vehicle. The link a of the coupling-chain is loosely hung, by a wire connection b or otherwise, from a cross-bar forming part of a cradle c connected to or formed in one piece with the operating-lever d. The lever d is capable of lateral and longitudinal motion in brackets f. On coupling, the lever handle g is raised until the link a is over its own draw-hook, then the wagons are brought together, and the link a lowered into engagement with the adjacent draw-hook.
