Abstract
11,641. Terwilleger, F., and Terwilleger, B. E. May 21. Lifeboats; hulls.-Relates to spherical vessels containing a carriage adapted to move in any direction. The outer skin of the vessel comprises steel or other sections 2 with radial flanges 3 .bolted together and flanges 4 bolted to the sections which form the inner skin 6. A carriage 12, having a well 29 and seat 30 and tanks or compartments 14,15 for water and provisions, is mounted so as to run on the castors 16 which are relieved of the weight of the carriage on depressing, by means of the pivoted lever 23, the rod 17 having a bracket, in which is journalled the castor 19 with a bevel face 20. By rotating the crank 27, the bevelwheels 28, shaft 24, and bevel-wheels 26, 20 rotate the castor 19 when it bears on the inner skin, thereby turning the vessel so as to cause one of the hatches 8, 9 to be raised above the water..
