School desks.-The front or vertical rail E of a folding-top school desk, to which the ink-well piece D is attached, is formed with a flexible, pivoted, or hinged joint, so that the top edge will swing forwards and prevent trapping of the fingers &c. The rail E, Fig. 1, is made in two parts e, e', and the upper part e is movably connected to the front uprights by screws b<1> and lugs b. The part e, Fig. 6, is attached to an arm B' pivoted to the part e' or to the upright. The rail may be pivoted as a whole at its lower edge.
