Preventing Corrosion Or Incrustation Of Metals
(AREA)
Abstract
7191. Rayner, G. H., [Wilhelmi, C.]. March 27. Casings. - In order to prevent underground cables &c. from being damaged when removing the overlying materials, they are protected by one or more layers of sacks b, c, Figs. 2 and 4, filled with the coarser material thrown up when the trench was first excavated. The sacks preferably occupy the whole breadth of the trench, and are covered with the finer excavated material. They are made of a material, such as ordinary sack webbing, impregnated with cement or other hardening-agent, which does not readily decay. Other suitable receptacles of impregnated wood, papier mÔchÚ, metal, or metal webbing &c. may be used instead of sacks.
