Abstract

2928. Zuppinger, R. Feb. 7. Electric railways and tramways partly on the overhead system and partly on a sectional surface conductor system with electromagnetic switches, in each case with accumulators connected to the conductors as reserve, so that low tensions may be used. Conductors ; switches.-In that part of the line where current is supplied to the vehicles from sectional conductors M on the surface, groups of batteries are arranged between the feeders F and return, so as to be charged from the generating- station and to supplement the current supply to the vehicles. The sectional conductors M are connected to the feeders F as the vehicle passes by alternating or other currents sent from the vehicle through supplementary sectional conductors S to switches C or relays R. On the other part of the line, the batteries are connected to the overhead conductor G to act as a reserve.
