Abstract

190. Boult, A. J., [Moore, F.]. Jan. 3. Extracting oils.-Relates to apparatus for separating oil or grease from water. Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of the appliance for use where the supply is continuous. The oily water enters through the pipe B, and is spread by the baffle C ; it passes successively through the openings e, e', e', e<3>, and rises between the plates D, E, &c. Oil &c. is drawn from each compartment through the cocks G. The flow of water from the compartment P is facilitated by the siphon d. Water is drawn from the bottoms of the compartments by the pipe beneath. When the supply of oily water is intermittent, the openings e, e', &c. are made successively smaller as they recede from the inlet.
