Abstract

27,593. Woodruff, M. B. Dec. 15. Sewing-machine work-supports; stands.-Consists of a device for holding the work as the sewing proceeds. A pair of clamps a secured to the machine table support two rods i, on which is secured, by means of a lace p, a sheet of net or other fabric forming the work-support. The rods i are pivoted to the clamps by their down-turned extensions j, which are pressed downwards by springs, so that, when the device is in use, the rods are prevented from rising above the stops h. The springs bear against stops m on the lower ends of the extensions j. The lace passes through eyes n, o in the rods i, and the work-support, when of net, is secured to the rods by threading the lace through the turned-over edges, as shown in Fig. 2. To put the device out of use, the rods i are raised clear of the stops h and turned inwards.
