Abstract

20,530. Terry, A. E. Sept. 20. Ezercising apparatus.-A spring hand - grip exerciser is built up of a bow-shaped wire frame 6, Fig. 1, fitted with a fixed handle 9, as shown, and a sliding handle 11, which can be drawn towards the fixed handle against the action of the coiled spring 10 through which the wire frame passes. In order to connect the sliding handle to the spring, one end of the spring is enlarged at 10<a> to abut against a shoulder in the hole 11<a>, the other end being connected by a split washer 12, which is forced in between the coils, after the parts have been assembled, to act against the shoulder in the hole 11<b>. To enable the hand-grip device to be connected by an elastic or other cord to another handle or other apparatus, a loop 13, Fig. 3, is formed by means of wire coiled round the spring 10, as shown. By these means, the connecting cord or the like 15 is kept near the centre of the bow. The frame 6 may be made of tubing of circular or semicircular cross-section.
