Abstract
19,272. Miller, A. W. W. Sept. 2. Incandescent lamps.-A screw or other cap f of metal is made with a non-circular opening to fit a projecting part l of insulating-material on the end of the lamp, and with roughened tongues g, which are secured with binding wire h behind a rib on the neck of the lamp. The cap may be split longitudinally, as shown in Fig. 3, and asbestos or other fibrous packing may be interposed between it and the neck of the lamp. Such caps may be removed to allow the lamp to be opened and repaired. The insulating-projection l on the lamp may be part of a button, the inner surface of which is roughened and secured by cement to the end of the lamp ; or the projection l may be moulded on the cement. A central contact m is set within the projection l. The form of the projection l may be varied, and two contacts may be provided within it.
