Abstract
13,978. Elwis, H. June 20. Boots and shoes, cleaning and polishing.-Relates to an appliance for holding boots and shoes while they are being cleaned and polished. The form shown in Fig. 1 consists of a stand s carried by arms e which pass loosely through sockets in a base-plate b and rest on eccentrics g. By turning the eccentrics by a handle h, the stand is raised so that a flat spring d placed in the boot bears against the end of an arm a and holds the boot in place. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the stand s is fixed, and an attachment to the end of the arm a is forced down by the cam j into engagement with the spring d in the boot.
