Abstract
13,287. Lake, H. H., [Submarine Signal Co.]. June 11. Drawings to Specification. Sounds, locating.-Sound vibrations, signals, &c. imparted to water by a submerged sound-producing device are transmitted to a receiver carried by a vessel floating on the water by a transmitter which may be submerged in a body of water carried in the vessel or in the sea in which the vessel floats. When used outside the vessel, the transmitter is preferably mounted in a protective casing which may be of spherical shape to assist in focussing the sound vibrations on the diaphragms. The casing may be divided into sensitive and insensitive segments, the apparatus being then used for locating the direction of the sounds.
