Abstract

9887. Rogers, J. W. April 29. Buttons and button - fasteners.- Buttons and the like are formed in two parts, namely a head a, Fig. 4, made of elastic material such as ivory, vegetable ivory, or bone, and having a hole drilled partly through from the underside, and a base comprising a dished plate e, a shank f of the same size as the hole in the head, a shoulder h, and a conoidal point g. The base is pressed through the material to which the button is to be attached, and then pushed sharply into the hole in the head, so that the shoulder h is firmly embedded. Preferably the head has a projection b in which the hole is drilled, and small slots d are made extending across the hole.
