Abstract
7721. Brownnutt, J. T. April 2. Litters, ambulance.-The bearer pole a is of steel tube, and is forked at the ends to form yokes which fit the shoulders of the bearers. The litter may also be slung on a vehicle or horse. The bar c forms a common pivot for the calliper-like ribs g, which are opened, as shown in Fig. 2, to receive the injured person and are then closed beneath him. Sheet-iron plates e padded at f connect the lower ends of each series of ribs, and constitute the bed on which the patient rests. Tubes or sleeves c<1> separate the ribs where the bar c passses through them, and the side bars dare similarly provided with sleeves d'. The side bars d are termed up at one end to form handles d<2> and carry at the other ends wooden handles h.
