Relates to the valve gear of motor-car engines, and consists o f means for regulating the speed by hand. The rod d of the exhaust valve is operated by an internal cam b<1> carried by a wheel b, which is rotated at half the speed of a wheel a on the crank shaft. The cam b<1> acts on the rod d through the medium of a lever c, pivoted on a crank-pin f, the position of which can be adjusted by a hand-lever e. In one position, the lever c fails altogether to operate the exhaust valve, and by placing it in other positions the exhaust valve can be caused to open more or less as desired.
