20,823. Zeller, K. F. Oct. 17. Motor road vehicles. - Relates to the coupling of a motor wagon to a trailing goods wagon or passenger vehicle and to the auxiliary driving of the wheels of the latter. Figs. 2 and 4 show diagrammatically in plan the motor wagon m and trailing vehicle w before coupling, and Fig. 5 shows in side elevation the vehicles after coupling. The motor wagon m is provided with the coupling-fork g on which spring-actuated coupling-pins i are mounted. These are pushed into the fork-carrier d on the vehicle w until they snap into corresponding holes therein. On bringing the hauling and trailing vehicles together in this way, the driving-wheels a of the motors b are put into gear with the wheels h of the trailing car, so that power may be transmitted to the front wheels. For the purpose of developing greater power in the case of heavilyloaded vehicles, reserve motors k are provided, which by the aid of slide bars s can be mounted on the front end of the wagon w to supply the back wheels with power. The slide bars s also serve as couplers. The adhesion may be increased by arranging that the back wheels of the wagon m shall be raised from the ground when the vehicles are coupled as shown in Fig. 5.
