Abstract

20,396. Fielding, A. Oct. 12. Yarns and threads, finishing.-Consists in using, in the process of producing viscose described in Specification No. 8700, A.D. 1892, cellulose which has been already dyed, such as damaged goods, or tag ends, or waste pieces of cloth, dyed with anilineblack, or with any other colour, or spent dye-woods, or cellulose specially dyed. The coloured viscose thus produced is employed as a colouring and filling matter, or as a filling material for finishing fabrics or aprons already dyed. The finishing or filling process may be carried out by padding or mangling, or other usual method of applying the solution, and then quickly drying the goods by passing them through a heated chamber and through an ageing box having a steam pressure of one to three pounds; or a stenter or steam cylinder and an ageing machine may be employed. By these processes the use of the brine bath for fixing the viscose may be dispensed with.
