16,523. Knorring, C. von, and Nadrowski, J. Aug. 16. Superheaters, steam; auxiliary heating-arrangements.-Apparatus for utilizing the waste steam from a turbine of the Laval or similar type driven by superheated steam is shown in Fig. 1. Steam from a boiler a, after passing through a superheater f, is used to drive a turbine i. The exhaust, but still superheated, steam from the turbine is passed through U-shaped gilled pipes b inserted in the boiler. In a modification, a nest of steam tubes is fitted in the boiler, and the exhaust steam is passed through these tubes and then through a feedwater heater. The nest of tubes e', Figs. 3 and 3<a>, may be placed outside the boiler and connected to the feedwater heater c. By means of a pump hand throttle valve g, the boiler water can be forced under pressure through the auxiliary heater. The arrangement of the auxiliary heater with regard to the boiler can be varied, and it may be placed in the steam to act as an auxiliary superheater.
