Abstract

11,355. Milbourne, R. J. June 3. Purifiers, valves for. To the side, bottom, or top of the purifier is attached a valve box A. In the form shown, intended for attachment to the side, this box is splayed out at A<2>, to allow passage of gas to an opening a, which is provided with a valve seating for a disc valve B running on side guides. The disc is held or released by a spindle b, passing through a stuffing-box a' and working in a screw in the bridge-piece d, the end of the spindle being squared to receive a spanner The valve box is open at the top a<2>, which leads into the division c' of the purifier, but is protected by a hood a<3>. When the parts are in the position shown, gas passes from the lower compartment c through the purifying-material on the tray e, but, when this material becomes clogged, the valve is opened to allow the gas to pass by the openings a and a' to the division c<2> beneath the tray e'. A modification is also shown of a valve intended to be operated beneath the puri6er, the valve box being a short pipe open top and bottom, beneath which the disc valve, such as B, is situated.
