Abstract
11,263. Humphry, W. C. June 1. Fastenings.-Relates to a hinge and fastening for the shafts of children's mail carts which are also applicable for other shafts and for the legs of tables and seats. The hinge as applied to a mail cart shaft is shown in side view in Fig. 2. One of the flaps c<1> of the hinge has side lugs g<1> which prevent the side movement of the outer ends B of the shaft when in line with the fixed part A. The shafts when extended are held by a tongue e<1> which fits into a slot in the spring D fixed to the part A. This fastening is disengaged by pushing down the end of a pivoted bar H. The flaps g<1> may be connected to the sides of the spring D instead of to the hinge.
