10,614. Coales, H. F. May 22. Manholes; stopping pipes for purposes other than testing.-To prevent flooding, manholes and pipes may be fitted with a stopper formed by discs 1, 2 threaded on a screw 7 and approximated by a screw-handle 6 to force out a rubber ring 4 to grip the sides of the manhole or pipe &c. In a modification, a disc with a flange to bear against a packing-ring is secured by a bayonet joint. The stopper may be made with a vent or opening to allow of inspection.
