The shallow rim 2 is provided with either a central rib 3, Fig. 1, or a central groove 4, Fig. 4, and the base of the tyre 1 is correspondingly shaped with either a central groove 7, Fig. 1, or a central rib 8, Fig. 4. The base of the tyre may have ribs 13 to ensure close contact with the outwardlycurved parts 11 of the rim when the attaching wires or bands are tightened.
