Abstract
6327. Lake, H. H., [Weber Railway Joint Manufacturing Co.]. March 26. Rail joints ; chairs.-Insulating-material A is placed between the rail ends, which are held between wooden blocks D', D<2> and on the insulating-strip C in the two-part chair B', B' by through-bolts. These bolts are insulated from the chair by insulating-sleeves and washers G', G<2>. Or insulating-sleeves protected inside and outside by metal sleeves surround the bolts where they pass through the rail webs. The chair may be widened to hold a guard-rail, a third wooden block being then placed between the rails. For bulb or I-rails a packing-piece, wedge, &c. may be placed on the bottom of the chair to give the required cant, or the chair may be supported on a wedge-shaped plate, the chair being then made with only one side and a bar 0 placed on the other side of the joint. One or two insulating- strips C may be placed under the rail, and maybe extended at the side so as to be held by the blocks D<1>, D'.
