4286. Smith, H. W. Feb. 28. Towelling; absorbent fabrics.-A woven fabric, such as towelling and the like, is produced by weaving together pairs of warp threads a, b, and a weft or filling thread comprising threads c combined with loosely-spun yarns d, which form soft and absorbent surfaces. Series of two pairs of warp threads are employed, and the threads of each pair are cross-woven together. The threads c are securely held by the crossing of the warp threads, and are embedded in the soft yarns d. The fabric may be woven in sections, alternately with and without the soft and absorbent yarns d, and the fabric may then be severed along the non-absorbent sections, to form towels.
