Abstract

4216. Weihtag, H. Feb. 27. Making parts of belt gearing.-Belt fasteners are punched, two at a time, from steel plate whereby blanks of double saw shape are obtained, Fig. 1, the teeth in the finished state being knifeedged and bent inwards, Fig. 6. In each blank, the long teeth B and the short teeth C follow each other alternately at both sides, corresponding teeth, however, not being immediately opposite to each other. The sides E and F of the first teeth at both sides of the blank are formed by the natural edges of the steel plate used for cutting out the blanks, while the sides of the long and of the short teeth are parallel to the edge of the blank. The blank is then bent down the middle so as to form a shallow trough, as in Fig. 4, at the same time as the short and long teeth are bent over along the lines s a and l l respectively and are knife-edged or sharpened. On flattening the belt fastener, the teeth are made to incline inwardly as in Fig. 6 and the fastener is ready for use.
