The sliding bolt a carries a lock e, the bolt g of which is arranged to engage a shoulder h in the bolt frame, gate, or door, and thereby secure the bolt a in the shot position. The bolt a may be shot by a spring m, or by means of a handle, or a hole may be formed in the bolt into which the finger can be inserted through a slot in the casing. The keyhole f in the bolt e is uncovered for the insertion of the key when the lock comes opposite this slot in the casing, or a keyhole may be formed in the casing with which the keyhole f registers when the bolt a is shut. According to the Provisional Specification, a pivoted piece operated by a key may be employed to lock the sliding bolt in the shot position.
