Abstract
1766. Ullmann, F. Jan. 25. o-o-Dinitrodiphenyl and its derivatives are produced by acting upon onitrodiazobenzene and its derivatives with cuprous chloride in strongly-acid or in aqueous solution at about 0‹ C. Examples are given in which o-o-dinitrodiphenyl is produced from diazotized o-nitraniline, 6 : 6-dinitro-4 : 4- ditolyl from diazotized m-nitro-p-toluidine, 6 : 6- dinitro-4 : 4-dichlorodiphenyl from diazotized-pchloro-o - nitraniline, 6 : 6-dinitro-3 : 3-dichlorodiphenyl from diazotized m-chloro-o-nitraniline, and 6 : 6-dinitrodiphenyl-4 : 4-disulphonic acid from diazotized nitraniline sulphonic acid [NH2 : NO2: SO3H =1:2:4].
