Abstract

22,617. Bannister, J. E. H. Dec. 12. Sectional boilers; feedwater, heating.-Corrugated plates are riveted together to form the generating and feed-heating elements of a boiler. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, each element A, A' is formed of three plates, the outer of which are flanged for attachment to the headers B, B', while the middle one projects into the header B to form a vertical partition. Tubes, with longitudinal partitions to form up and down flow channels D, D<1>, connect the header B with the steam drum C. The up-flow divisions D' project into the drum, but the down-flow divisions D only just enter it. Circulation takes place from one side of each element B, through the channels A' between the corrugated plates to the header B, and back through the channels A to the other side. A feedwater-heater E of similar construction to the generating - elements may be provided. Fig. 4 shows a modified construction with two corrugated plates, one on each side of a flat plate.
