17,315. Parkes, S. R., and Appleby, W. H. Sept. 29. Locks, key; latches.- Relates to the arrangement of the spring or springs in a latch or other lock. Each spring S is formed of a piece of steel of uniform thickness and shaped as shown. The bent portion of the springs take against a corner piece or pieces K, and one end bears against the projection b<1> on the bolt B, while the other end bears against a stop piece l<2>. The sides and one end of the casing are formed in one piece, and the piece K forms the other end. In a modified form, the spring, or springs, are formed with an additional bend, which is engaged by a round, half-round, or other suitably-shaped block in place of the piece K.
