Abstract
15,427. Bradley, F. Aug. 30. Games and sports, scoring and marking.- In a coin - controlled billiard marker and register, the axes B<1> and C<1> of the indicating-pointers carry ratchet-wheels, which are prevented from turning back by pawls. The dials may be graduated with fifty divisions and made to lock once in e a c h rotation, or with a hundred divisions and made to lock twice in each rotation. One dial with two pointers of different lengths, forms, or colours, or two concentric dials, may be used. A slide marking-board, locked at fifty and a hundred and having ratchets to prevent back motion, may be used. An additional dial may be provided to indicate the number of games played. Two small openings, fitted with shutters covering the numerals 50, may be provided for use when playing games of a hundred up. Actuating-mechanism; coin action. - The coinfreed mechanism preferably consists of a frame F held together by bolts F<1> and having an arm F<2> to which is pivoted an arm F<3> pulled against a pin 2 by a spring F<4>. The pin 2 is carried by a lever H carrying a stop H<1> to engage the shoulder of a cam G on the spindle C'. A coin or check of special form, placed in a similarly-shaped slot, falls down a shoot D into a receptacle J, Fig. 4, and, by pulling a handle K, is pushed, by a travelling carriage L under a lifting-carriage M working on a roller N and carried by a lever 0 pivoted to a lever P projecting underneath and adapted to lift the lever H so as to release the cam. A pin on the cam operates the lever F<3> at each rotation so as to allow the pin 2 to fall one notch. The check or coin, after passing under the lifting-carriage M, falls into a receptacle. The Provisional Specification describes a coin-freed apparatus in which, when one of the pointers reaches fifty, the coin is dislodged, by a pin, stud, or catch, into a drawer so as to cause the pointers to be locked again, the mechanism preferably consisting of a balance normally engaging or controlling the pointer axes or wheels on them.
