Tivoli billiards and the like. - Coin-freed apparatus, adapted for use in a game of the kind wherein a slide is projected up a pair of guide rails, is characterized in that the raising of the slide so that it comes to rest at any one of a number of defined winning positions effects the delivery of coins from a coin box. If the slide is unsuccessfully raised, a pivotal pawl mounted thereon engages one of the teeth of a fixed rack 21, Fig. 8, but if successfully raised the pawl engages a tooth 22<a> of the rack 22 slidably mounted on the rack 21, and the rack 22 then falls until the slide reaches the winning position corresponding to the tooth 22<a>, thereby depressing the counterweighted lever 23 which through a projection 23<b> disengages the spring latch 26 from the tubular slide 25a of the coin box 25. The slide 25<a> is thereupon raised by a spring 27, Fig. 4, to the position shown in Fig. 10, whereby coins previously collected in the slide fall through an opening 25<c> into the delivery shoot 8. After inserting a coin and turning a handle provided, the sleeve 12 is rotated and through a chain 14, which passes under a sprocket wheel 15 on a one-way clutch on a cam spindle, rotates the cam 13, the position of which determines by the deflector 24 whether the coin on leaving the coin shoot 17 falls to a till or into the coin box 25. Simultaneously with the movement of the cam 13, a catch plate 14<a> on the chain engages the pin 29b on the toggle links 29, pulling the latter down and so rotating a bar to which the racks 21, 22, are attached whereby the slide, previously supported thereon, falls to the play position. In the case of a previous win, a projection 31 on the rod 30 en. gages a lug 25f on the slide 25<a> and forces the latter down until it is engaged by the spring latch 26. Another projection 32 on the rod 30 depresses the lever 34 whereby the rod 33 bears on the lever 23 and raises the rack 22 to its normal position. When the deflector 24 is in a position to direct coins to the till, a peg 13<a> on the cam 13 co-operates with the levers 34, 33, 23 to lock the slidable rack 22 in the raised position so that the slide will not indicate a win if it lodges on said rack.
