6150. Lamson Pneumatic Tube Co., and Jenney, R. T. April 2. Pneumatic despatch apparatus.-Relates to a pneumatic electric despatch system in which the electric circuit for driving the motor of the exhausting-fan is automatically closed upon taking a carrier from its stand for use. Fig. 1 shows a diagrammatic view of the apparatus. The motor 1 is supplied from the leads 8, in the circuit of which is a magnetic contact 14 and automatic switch 17. The magnets of the contact 14 are in the circuit of a battery 32. The carrier holders 33 and 34 for the sending-stations 60 and 61 are also inserted in parallel in the battery circuit. One of these holders is shown partly in section in Fig. 3. Connection between the leads 35 and 36 is controlled by a spring push 49, which under the weight of a carrier is depressed, and the circuit thus kept open. When a carrier is removed, as shown by the right receptacle, the spring push rises, bringing the disc 50 and plate 53 into contact, and thus closing the circuit through the contact 14, which, coming into action, closes the motor circuit and starts the fan. The exhaust pipe 5 of the motor communicates through the "cashier" 7 with the two sending-stations 64 and 65, and thence with the corresponding receivers 60 and 61. The carriers are returned to the stations by the inlet pipes 68 and 69, either one of which can be closed by a flap 70.
